This is the new NASA design for a ship speed of light

In 2016, NASA physicist Harold White announced that he and his team were working on the design of a ship that could travel faster than light. That is, a project that made the Warp Drive reality of science fiction. Now White has collaborated with an artist and designer to create a prototype of how would this hypothetical ship. Enterprise is the (literal, have called so) come true.

A team of astronomers from the Harvard-Smithsonian Institute has discovered a new type of planet ...

This is the ship that someday could lead to other galaxies. Harold White is still working on this project at the Johnson Space Center NASA. At the moment it is a purely experimental idea, but that does not mean you can not imagine. And that's just what Harold and artist Mark Rademaker made.

Rademaker has assured our fellow io9 who has worked with White to update the design. Now it based on a futuristic ship docked in the center to huge rings. These are the ones that would create the effect thrust curvature to travel faster than the speed of light.

The model is an update of the above, it was this below:
Harold White, whose day job at NASA is developing new propulsion systems, such as ion thrusters and plasma, has developed new theories about how to fix the concept Metrics Alcubierre, a mathematical model that would allow travel of matter faster than light, based on Einstein's equations of general relativity without violating its principles. In fact White has been able to perform and the first practical experiments demonstrating the effects of thrust Alcubierre.

For now, it is pure theoretical work but perhaps someday become reality. Below you can see more images of the design of the ship:
According to White, it is theoretically and practically possible to achieve a driving force to bring a ship to Alpha Centauri in "two weeks, as measured by the time elapsed on Earth." Alpha Centauri is the "closest" to the Sun, 41 trillion kilometers away star system.
